Minnesota Governor Tim Walz criticized President Donald Trump on Thursday for reposting a video that shows kindergarten students wearing hijabs. The video, originally posted by a conservative commentator, shows a group of young girls in a classroom wearing the Islamic headscarves.

Walz, a Democrat, said the president's action was divisive and targeted a vulnerable group. "This is not who we are as a nation," Walz said in a statement. "Our children should not be used as political pawns."

The video was originally shared on social media by a user who claimed the students were being forced to wear hijabs as part of a school lesson. However, school officials said the activity was voluntary and aimed at teaching cultural understanding.

Trump's repost drew criticism from Muslim advocacy groups and civil rights organizations, who said it could incite harassment against Muslim students. The White House did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
