Kharge Slams Modi Over India's Passport Ranking Claims

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his recent claims about India's passport ranking. Kharge accused Modi of misleading the public about the country's standing on the global passport index.

Kharge pointed out that India's passport currently ranks 80th on the Henley Passport Index, which measures travel freedom. He said Modi's assertion that India's passport ranking had improved significantly under his government was inaccurate.

The Congress leader noted that the passport ranking had actually declined in recent years. He cited data showing that India's passport allowed visa-free access to fewer countries compared to several other nations.

Kharge demanded that the prime minister provide factual evidence to support his claims. He said the government should focus on improving the real-world utility of the Indian passport rather than making unsubstantiated statements.
