The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay announced plans to open its first campus in the United States, located in New York, by 2027. The new facility will offer graduate programs and research opportunities, aiming to strengthen academic ties between India and the U.S.

The campus will be established in partnership with local academic institutions and industry stakeholders. IIT Bombay director Subhasis Chaudhuri said the initiative will provide students and faculty access to global research ecosystems and foster innovation.

The New York campus will initially focus on areas such as artificial intelligence, data science, and sustainable energy. IIT Bombay expects to enroll several hundred students in the first phase, with plans to expand programs based on demand.

This move marks a significant step for IIT Bombay as it expands its international footprint. The institute joins other Indian institutions in setting up overseas campuses, reflecting a growing trend of cross-border educational collaboration.
