The United States Postal Service announced plans to release a new Diwali Forever stamp in 2025, ahead of the Hindu festival of lights. The stamp will be the second Diwali-themed stamp issued by USPS, following the first one released in 2016.
The stamp design features a traditional diya, or oil lamp, set against a background of fireworks. The word "Diwali" appears in gold lettering at the top, with "USA" and "Forever" at the bottom.
USPS said the stamp will be available for purchase at post offices nationwide and online. The exact release date has not been announced but is expected to be in October or November, coinciding with the Diwali celebration.
Diwali, observed by Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, and some Buddhists, symbolizes the victory of light over darkness. The festival typically falls between mid-October and mid-November.
The 2016 Diwali stamp was part of USPS's effort to recognize the cultural diversity of the United States. The new stamp continues that tradition, the agency said.
