FBI Investigates 26 Federal Plaza Explosion; Former Army Soldier Detained

The explosion occurred around 9:30 a.m. outside the federal building at 26 Federal Plaza, which houses offices of the FBI and other agencies. No injuries were reported, but the blast caused damage to the building's entrance and shattered nearby windows.

Arrabaca, a former U.S. Army soldier, was taken into custody later that day at his residence in Brooklyn. Authorities said they recovered materials consistent with the construction of an explosive device during a search of his home.
