The new program, announced Friday, August 7, will require creators to have an active Premium, Premium+ or Premium Business subscription, at least 500 followers, and 500,000 verified Home Timeline impressions over the previous 90 days, excluding replies. Earnings will be based on unique impressions from Premium users viewing posts on the Home Timeline, with at least 50% of the post visible.
X has stopped accepting new applications for the current revenue-sharing program. Creators already enrolled will continue receiving payments through September 7, with three final payouts scheduled for August 14, August 28, and September 11. Starting September 8, existing members will gradually be offered the option to apply for the new program if they meet the eligibility requirements.
Payments under the new program will be made every two weeks, with the first payment scheduled for August 28. Creators transitioning from the old program who enroll after September 8 will receive their first payment on September 25, 2026.
Posts that copy another creator's work, substantially reproduce someone else's content, or take material from another platform and upload it to X will not qualify for payouts. The change is intended to address the growing volume of repetitive and low-quality posts on the platform, rewarding creators who bring original ideas, expertise, reporting, creativity, and commentary.
X Creators stated in a post announcing the change: 'Today, we're introducing the Original Content Rewards Program, a new way to reward creators who bring original ideas, expertise, reporting, creativity, and commentary to X.' The company added that the program is designed to place more value on content that keeps users returning to the platform.
