Rudy Sengupta, Emerson's new CTO and AI Chief, smiles for a tech portrait.

Sengupta, who has led the Test & Measurement segment's software and analytics efforts since joining through the NI acquisition, will succeed Peter Zornio. Zornio retires Dec. 31 after 20 years with the company.

In his new role, Sengupta will join Emerson's Office of the Chief Executive and oversee the company's technology and AI strategy across its industrial software, control systems, and intelligent devices portfolio. The appointment supports Emerson's push to lead in AI-enabled automation and advance its Enterprise Operations Platform.

CEO Lal Karsanbhai credited Sengupta with driving the Test & Measurement business's performance and expressed confidence in his ability to accelerate innovation. Sengupta said he aims to embed data-driven intelligence into customer tools to improve decision-making.

Sengupta holds a bachelor's degree in electrical and computer engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, where he serves on the Cockrell School of Engineering Advisory Board.
