Nita Mukesh Ambani, founder and chairperson of the Reliance Foundation, received the Humanitarian Award from the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin at a ceremony in Tampa, Florida. The award recognizes her philanthropic contributions across healthcare, education, sports, culture and community development.
Tampa Mayor Jane Castor also presented Ambani with the Key to the City of Tampa, a civic honor reserved for individuals whose work has made a meaningful impact on society. The recognition reflects the city's appreciation for her humanitarian efforts.
Ambani was recognized for her leadership at the Reliance Foundation, which has led initiatives in healthcare, education, rural transformation, women's empowerment, disaster response, sports development and preservation of India's arts and cultural heritage. She has also launched Her Circle, a digital platform for women's empowerment, and serves as the first Indian woman elected to the International Olympic Committee and the first Indian honorary trustee of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Accepting the award, Ambani dedicated it to the Reliance Foundation team, stating that humanitarian work is never achieved by one person alone. She also praised the Indian American community for preserving India's cultural heritage while contributing to American society.
