Gita Manaktala named Executive Director of Columbia University Press

Columbia University Press has named Gita Manaktala as its next Executive Director. Manaktala will assume the role effective immediately, succeeding the previous director who stepped down earlier this year.

Manaktala brings extensive experience in academic publishing to the position. She has served in various editorial and leadership roles at the press for over a decade, most recently as Editorial Director.

In her new role, Manaktala will oversee the press's editorial operations, business strategy, and digital initiatives. She will also work to expand the press's reach in scholarly and trade publishing.

The appointment was announced by Columbia University's provost, who praised Manaktala's vision and commitment to advancing the press's mission. Manaktala expressed enthusiasm for leading the institution into its next chapter.
