US H-1B visa restrictions are part of a broader review, not aimed at India, says Indian diplomat.
India's Consul General in New York, Randhir Jaiswal, said the recent H-1B visa curbs by the United States are not targeted at India but stem from a wider review of the immigration system. He made the remarks during a virtual interaction with the Indian community.
Jaiswal clarified that the changes are part of a comprehensive US review process affecting multiple countries, not just India. He urged the diaspora not to view the measures as discriminatory.
The diplomat noted that the US administration is reassessing its visa policies to address domestic concerns, including job protection for American workers. He emphasized that India continues to engage with US officials to ensure the interests of Indian professionals are safeguarded.
Jaiswal also highlighted the strong bilateral ties between India and the US, expressing confidence that the two nations would find mutually beneficial solutions. He encouraged the Indian community to stay informed and participate in policy discussions.
