PM Modi to visit Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand from July 6-11; to hold bilateral talks, address diaspora

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand from July 6 to July 11, 2023. The trip will include bilateral meetings with leaders of each country and addresses to the Indian diaspora.

In Indonesia, Modi will hold talks with President Joko Widodo to discuss strengthening ties in trade, defense and maritime cooperation. The visit marks the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Indonesia.

In Australia, the prime minister will meet with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to review progress on the India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Modi is also expected to address the Indian community in Sydney.

The final leg of the tour will be New Zealand, where Modi will hold discussions with Prime Minister Chris Hipkins. The leaders are expected to focus on enhancing cooperation in areas such as renewable energy, agriculture and education.

The Ministry of External Affairs stated that the visit aims to deepen India's engagement with the Indo-Pacific region and boost people-to-people ties with the diaspora communities.
