Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman commended Indian professionals working on the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) fusion project during a visit to Marseille, France. She highlighted their role in advancing the landmark clean-energy initiative and strengthening India's global standing.

Sitharaman toured the ITER facility and lauded the contributions of engineers from Larsen & Toubro (L&T), Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), and other Indian firms. She noted their two-decade involvement in the project, which aims to demonstrate the feasibility of fusion power.

The minister also praised the Indian diaspora in Marseille for enhancing bilateral ties between India and France. She emphasized that their efforts have bolstered India's reputation as a key partner in international scientific collaborations.

ITER, a multinational project, seeks to replicate the fusion processes of the sun to produce clean energy. Indian companies and professionals have been integral to its construction and development, contributing expertise in engineering and technology.
