An Indian national was among 12 people killed in a skydiving plane crash in Missouri.
A skydiving plane crashed in Missouri on Saturday, killing all 12 people on board, including an Indian national. The aircraft, a twin-engine Cessna 208 Caravan, went down shortly after takeoff near the town of Sunrise Beach.
The Indian national was identified as a 28-year-old man from the state of Gujarat who was living in the United States. He was among a group of skydivers and the pilot on the flight.
The crash occurred at approximately 9:30 a.m. local time. The plane was operated by a skydiving company and was carrying 11 skydivers and one pilot. No survivors were found at the scene.
Federal investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board arrived at the crash site to begin an investigation into the cause of the accident. The aircraft was destroyed by impact and a post-crash fire.
The Indian consulate in Chicago confirmed the death of the Indian national and said it was in touch with his family to provide assistance. The names of the other victims have not been released pending notification of next of kin.
