Belgium Challenges FIFA Ban in Folarin Balogun Case

Belgium has formally challenged a FIFA ruling that prevents forward Folarin Balogun from representing the Belgian national team. The case centers on Balogun's eligibility, as the player has previously appeared for England at youth levels.

FIFA's ban, issued earlier this month, prohibits Balogun from switching national teams due to his participation in two competitive matches for England's under-21 side. Belgium argues that the matches were not official senior competitions and that Balogun holds a Belgian passport through his mother.

The Belgian Football Association filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport, seeking to overturn the FIFA decision. A ruling is expected within weeks, with Balogun's international future hanging in the balance.

Balogun, who plays for Reims in Ligue 1, has expressed interest in playing for Belgium. The 21-year-old has scored 10 goals this season, drawing attention from several European clubs.
