The U.S. Department of State has announced that the EB-2 immigrant visa category for Indian nationals has reached its annual limit for fiscal year 2026. This means that no further EB-2 visas will be issued to applicants from India until the start of the next fiscal year on October 1, 2026.

The EB-2 category is for professionals with advanced degrees or exceptional ability in the sciences, arts, or business. Indian nationals have been the largest group of applicants in this category, often facing years of backlog due to per-country caps on employment-based green cards.
