TikTok Closes Nashville Office, Lays Off 250 Employees

The closure comes just over two years after TikTok signed a lease for 143,610 square feet on Music Row in April 2024, one of Nashville's largest office deals that year. Before that, the company operated from a downtown WeWork space for several years.

A spokesperson for TikTok USDS Joint Venture said the decision aims to streamline operations and align teams for long-term growth. The company remains committed to providing safe experiences for its 200 million U.S. users, the spokesperson added.

The Nashville office had been a hub for content moderation, which will now be handled more by automated screening systems. The move is part of a broader restructuring that followed the January 2026 reorganization of TikTok's U.S. business under a new joint venture led by American investors, including Oracle, Silver Lake, and Abu Dhabi's MGX. ByteDance retains a 19.9% stake.

TikTok's Nashville presence was tied to the city's music and creator economy, with local firms like Iffert Media, Innovo Management, and Alchemy Artist Services helping build artist partnerships. The company has also scaled back its music operations, discontinuing TikTok Music in November 2024 and cutting about 15 music team positions in October 2025.

TikTok previously reported about 7,000 U.S. employees as of 2023 and says its platform serves 200 million users and 7.5 million businesses nationwide. The Nashville office closure is expected to be completed by October 2026.
