Karandeep Singh, a 24-year-old temporary resident from India, was sentenced to 170 days of house arrest and 18 months of probation after pleading guilty to a sexual assault that occurred in June 2024 in Prince George, British Columbia.

Singh, who has lived in Canada since 2023, avoided jail time under the terms of his sentence. The court imposed the house arrest and probation as an alternative to incarceration.

The case involved a single count of sexual assault, to which Singh entered a guilty plea. Details of the assault were not disclosed in court records.

As a temporary resident, Singh's immigration status may be affected by the conviction, though no immediate deportation order was announced.
