It was because of the freedom fighters that India became independent. Today we acknowledge those freedom fighters that we have a great ally like India.

Assistant Minister Jason Wood MP while addressing Australian Indian community said:

Indian community has made amazing contribution during the time of COVID-19 crises. India is a trusted and a good friend of Australia. Today it's our honour to be part of this auspicious occasion.

HE Manpreet Vohra said:

India is a country that has come a long way in last 75 years. I can say that from the depth of 1947 with nil resources till today where we are 5th largest economy and 3rd in purchasing power parity with highly educated diaspora Indian community is contributing tremendously in Australia.

while making his final remarks HE Mr. Vohra also requested the Australian political leaders for the early resolution of bringing Indian students back who wants to come back to Australia but could not due to Australian travel ban.

HE Manish Gupta said:

India is the most vibrant nation in the world. Honourable PM Narendra Modi has taken this initiative to become a “Atmanirbhar Bharat” (self-reliant India). We are thankful for the support which we have received from Australia both from Federal and State level during the COVID crisis situation in India.

Ms Pallavi Sinha (AFR & Westpac 100 Woman of Influence & 2019 Liberal party candidate for NSW Upper House) who also attended the event said:

Thanks Fiona Martin MP for taking up my suggestion to organise an Indian Independence day event for Reid & the broader Indian community (over 700,000 in Australia & around 200,000 in NSW). Strong bilateral ties are important for both Australia & India in many years. As a second generation Australian of Indian origin, I feel fortunate to have received Australian education & to build stronger Aust-India ties. I pay tribute to the freedom fighters & I hope that this fighting Spirit continues for the betterment of India, & it's relationship with Australia.

Mr Gurnam Singh (founder of AISECS - Australian-Indian Sports Educational and Cultural Society) said:

Independence Day is a very special day. To me Independence Day means freedom. We are living on such an incredible land called Australia and we Indians are very thankful for the same. Let's take a pledge for the peace and integrity of our land.

At one of the another event hosted by Dr Yadu Singh (President of Federation of Indian Associations of NSW ) and attended by Andre Bragg (Senator for NSW), Dr Fiona Martin MP (Federal Member of Reid) and Dave Sharma MP (MP from Wentworth)

event hosted by Dr Yadu Singh (President of Federation of Indian Associations of NSW )

Dr Yadu singh said:

“India is in our hearts. We love it, irrespective of its minor and fixable imperfections. We rejoice its successes and achievements. Each and everyone from the 32 million global diasporas, including 750,000 strong Indian Australian diasporas, wishes to see multidimensional progress in India. We remember it well that the freedom India gained on 15th August 1947 was possible due to the sacrifices of our freedom fighters. The freedom we have today is possible only due the vigil of our defence forces at India’s borders. We salute the sacrifices of our freedom fighters and our defence forces today on the auspicious occasion of 75th Independence Day of India. Greetings and best wishes to the global diaspora, especially Indian Australian diaspora. Jai Hind! Hindustan Zindabaad!!

Senator Andrew Bragg wishes

Happy Independence Day to India & the 200,000 strong Indian-Australian community in NSW!

Dr Fiona Martin MP said:

Today's celebrations mark the hard-won freedoms of the Indian people. Since 1947, India has achieved economic growth and development and today it is a proud democracy. Australia and India have strong ties and Australia is home to hundreds of thousands of people of Indian descent.

NRI Herald wishes all its readers happy 75th Indian Independence Day and thank all political as well as Australian-Indian community leaders for organising these events.
